Pet hates

Now this topic was just so irresistible not to join in! I usually have the odd moan and gripe but to have a platform for which to put them on? right up my street...

Number 1 gripe:

People who don't listen to you. Now I like to think I am a pretty good listener and think it's very important, if a conversation is interrupted (where I am predominantly the listener) to always make sure I engage the person afterwards with 'so you were saying?', just in case they can't find the right moment to start again. Now when that happens to me and the person who is listening to my story starts talking about something else/to someone else it really irritates me and I find it down right rude. Personally I don't like to think of people being offended and even if the story is completely mind numbing I will try my best to save feelings! Ditzy people tend to be the major offenders (sorry to any ditzy people that are good listeners).

Number 2 gripe:

Lights being left on for no reason and being of no benefit to anyone. I am turning into more of an old nag because of this...

Number 3 gripe:

People chomping on their food. I usually notice this at work when I just want some quiet time on my break and the sound of someone chomping/slurping is amplified. Even worse is chomping with mouth open, aargh!

Number 4 gripe:

Having an untidy house, I can't relax with mess around me. I don't like washing up hanging around, especially as we have an open plan kitchen/lounge. It rings true with me 'tidy house, tidy mind'. It's the bane of my life, I wish I could let things slip a bit more.

Number 5 gripe:

Punctuality. I don't like being late for anything, I find it makes me anxious. I would rather turn up somewhere early than be running late. Like Super Amazing Mum, my husband is like hers! He will take his time getting ready and if he is given a time to be somewhere you can usually add an hour on. We have snuck into weddings before mid ceremony, just cringeworthy! So the battle continues for me stood outside the bathroom door saying 'are you ready yet?!'.

They say it's good to get things off your chest and indeed it has been! Besides all the above I am a pretty contented person, honest.

Pet hates

  1. I hate the mouth sounds of people eating...just gruesome! Great list! I'm following you now! xxx

  2. I agree with all 5 and my hubby is the exact same. He takes 4 times as long as me to get ready.

  3. Are you sure you're not married to my man?! Mine also has a problem with punctuality and faffs around whenever we need to be somewhere. He always manages to lose his keys just as we are leaving. Then he will lock up and realise he has lost his house keys. He also eats with his mouth open, but that's a whole other story...

  4. Yep - agree with all of them, esp. no.1. Don't just leave me looking like a boring twat, at least let me finish the story! (even if I am one...)

  5. YES YES YES! Someone else with the noisy eater thing - drives me wild! I could easily have all of the others on my list though too. Lateness infuriates me.

The bit about the lights made me chuckle. I find I'm saying it more and more. When I was younger and lived at home with my parents my Dad always used to say "Turn some bloody lights off will you! It's like Blackpool Illuminations in this house!"

    Good times ;)

  6. eating noises : hate hate hate them. Cured hubby of tardiness. I said "I will be leaving the house at 10:15am, if you aren't ready I'll see you there". Twice I left without him, twice he threw a fit at me, which I ignored and shrugged off. If we are going somewhere together he is now ready on time.

  7. muchly agreed on all of your pet hates..
    especially the eating one!

thanks for stopping by my blog :)

  8. Oh these are fab I agree with all of them but fail miserably at keeping my house tidy have just written a post about this
if you have any tips would love to here them about how to keep the place tidy!
But would also like to say Mr L always makes us late but not because he takes so long to get ready but because he doesn't start until about 15mins before we leave so he is always late! xx

  9. totally get the untidy house!!!
just discovered your blog through listography. x

  10. Definitely agree with you on ALL of them! Number 1: totally get it! Number 2: A constant debacle with my husband who seems to love leaving every single light on in every single room that he's NOT in! Number 3: I've walked out on people before because I couldn't stand that sound. It's like nails on a chalkboard for some. Number 4: we must be soul mates. I'm now convinced. Number 5: I'm punctual, and I make sure I get anywhere about 5-10mins earlier. I however live with a man who likes to get there 1 hour earlier... that just pisses me off. There's being punctual and then there's being ridiculous! Still, I suppose it's better than being an hour late. Thanks for the rant... awesome listography entry!!
