The Gallery: I'm Grateful For

The timing for this Gallery theme seems to be particularly poignant at the moment for me. One of my family members has recently suffered a stillbirth and as you might expect it has come as somewhat of a shock. It is by far one of the cruelest parts of nature.

Due to the recent events it has made me feel so incredibly grateful. So very lucky to have carried my son to full term, to hear his first cry, to gaze endlessly at him whilst he slept and to feel the warmth of his body in my arms. As a Mum I can only shiver to even imagine what it must feel like to lose your precious child.

I love my son to bits enough already, but it has made me cuddle him that little bit tighter and that little bit longer. I have been breathing in the smell of him and simply enjoying having him in my life.

Life is so very short as it is and you just never know what it might throw at you. It's at times like these that I sit back and realise what I'm grateful for. I'm so very grateful for my healthy son who is full of life.

Take a look at the other entries over at Sticky Fingers...

  15. My friend also two months ago lost her baby in still birth. It has been a tragic and traumatic time and it does make you feel grateful and then guilty. Mixed emotions. A wonderful heartfelt post. xx

  16. I'm so sorry to hear that news. It is awful and makes you feel very grateful for everything you have. I recently suffered a miscarriage at three months and that was hard enough - I simply can't imagine what your family is going through. Big hugs to you and your family. xxx

  17. Post and photo, and the thought of it all make me cry. I used to spend a lot of time on mummy chat forums and there were 3 ladies on there and I got really close to them because I could feel their pain. Thankfully 2 years on they all have another baby but they all still regularly talk about and remember their lost angels xxxxxxx (emotional) xxx

Ahh beautiful. I think we all are incredibly grateful for our little babes. So sorry for your family member. For some reason I assumed you would have dark hair, even though your blog header pic is blond!
